If you’re looking for home care jobs in Berkshire, Hampshire or Surrey, we can help you. We always have openings for Care Givers and we can even give you training and help you earn qualifications.

What qualifications do I need to become a Care Giver?

Personality counts for a lot in the care industry and we value kindness and compassion over academic qualifications. You can get started in the care industry with no experience. As a member of the Blue Angel family, we will help you get the experience and diplomas you need to work as a full-time Care Giver.

You can work with us as a Care Giver while you work towards your NVQ level 2 and then progress to levels 3 and 4 if you
wish. We encourage our Care Givers to follow a career pathway with free training and development. A DBS check and a clean driving licence are a couple of things we do insist on from our home care givers.

Do I have to be caring to be a Care Giver?

Many people who work with us are naturally sociable people who are happiest when looking after other people. But if that doesn’t describe you, don’t discount a career in care.

Care comes in many disguises, and we acknowledge that different types of people respond better to different personalities. While the basics of care such as personal hygiene are universal, the way you talk to a client can differ from person to person.

The only things we insist on are respect for your fellow human beings and compassion. Try putting yourself in the client’s shoes and see how you would feel about not being able to wash, for example.

We always try to match up clients and care givers who will get on well with each other. Your time spent together will be a lot more enjoyable from both sides if you share something in common. Therefore, we try and match compatible personalities!

What to expect from a career as a care giver

You will find the work easier if you aren’t squeamish. Helping someone with personal care means being confident in dealing with toileting and incontinence. This is where respect is paramount.

It can be embarrassing to admit you need help to use the toilet, so making the person you are giving care to feel respected is important. Knowing that you are helping someone to live the best life they can is highly rewarding. Moreover, there are more material gains, such as a real living wage, a generous mileage allowance, a pension plan and flexible hours.
